WHICH INVESTMENTS OF THE LAST COUPLE YEARS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?

River Cities Capital Funds: We are proud of all of our investments. One of our most recent investments was in a company called NICO, which is an Indianapolis-based leader in modern interventional technologies used in a new way of performing less invasive brain surgery. The outcomes using the technology have meant the difference between life and death for many patients and that is something we’re very excited to be part of.

WHAT RECENT EXITS HAS THE FIRM COMPLETED, AND WHY DID IT WORK OUT FOR THE BUYERS?

River Cities Capital Funds: We sold a company called Advanced Practice Strategies (APS). APS is an assessment, education and analytics company committed to helping healthcare professionals achieve their highest potential through innovation in learning. The acquisition increases Relias Learning’s presence in the acute care market, while launching the company into the pre-hire assessments category.

IN YOUR MOST RECENT INVESTMENTS, WHAT BUSINESSES ARE YOU FOCUSING ON, AND WHY IS THAT A GOOD FIT FOR THE FIRM?

River Cities Capital Funds: We continue to invest in market-validated, fast-growing healthcare and information technology companies in the less efficient, lower end of the growth equity market.  On the IT side, we’re paying particular attention to more vertically-targeted solutions. On the healthcare side, we continue to pay particular attention to medical device industries.

WHAT NEWS STORIES ABOUT THE FIRM – EITHER PUBLIC, PRESS RELEASE OR INTERNAL – HAS BEEN MOST SIGNIFICANT IN THE LAST YEAR OR SO, AS FAR AS PROMOTING AND ENHANCING WHAT YOU DO AS A FIRM?

River Cities Capital Funds: We focus more on promoting the significant achievements of our portfolio companies – each of our portfolio companies has a landing page on our website with news updates. We focus a lot on thought leadership... for example, you can follow our SaaS Reports, Healthcare Roundtables, Salary Surveys and more by clicking on this link.. www.rccf.com/resources/
WITHIN YOUR INVESTMENT/FUND COMMITTEES, WHAT ONE QUESTION IS ALWAYS ASKED ABOUT ANY COMMITMENT TO AN INVESTMENT?

River Cities Capital Funds: Since we invest in world-class management teams, a lot of our emphasis is placed on the people.

IF YOUR FIRM WERE TO BE CHARACTERIZED BY A WELL-KNOWN MOVIE, WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

River Cities Capital Funds: ‘Anchorman,’ because River Cities is all about team work – like the News Team – and we’re pretty hilarious... to ourselves.
