Bio Integrated Solutions Inc. was founded by Dr. Arnab K. Mallik in November 2003 and became an “S” corporation (Illinois) on April 2004. The focus of the company is to provide complete automated sample preparation solutions for the Drug Discovery, Clinical Testing, Microbiology, R&D, and Pharma applications.
In developing our products for specific applications, we had to build a product that met or exceeded user safety requirements (toxic solvents & buffers), ease of use (GUI), compact footprint (lab space), error detection & process logging (prior to & during the running of the protocol using proprietary technology), flexible with varying levels of automation (user dependent) at a competitive price. Our development team consists of engineers with hands-on experience, and therefore knew where the process could be improved through automation. The industry is faced with the need to shorten the development time for blockbuster drugs, as well as the need to reduce the cost of medication. Our research determined that the industry needed novel screening tools that had the ability to multi-task, with in-built logging and validation tools. We design our products in such a manner that it can be utilized by a single scientist on their work bench, or could be included as a significant tool in a large labs where the cost savings are much greater. One of the other cost savings our clients receive is the eliminating the need for an IT team normally needed for the creation, workflow, and maintenance of protocols. Bio Integrated Solutions has completed the production, testing and validation of the BIS V FLex (Sample Preparation Instrument) in Q4 2005 and the Bio Spotter (“Array” for bio-chips & expression analysis) in Q2 2005. The BIS V FLex has been validated for use with Toxicology and Forensics (Blood & Urine for Forensics and Drugs of Abuse Testing) and Pre Clinical Drug Testing (Micro Ames Protocol) in 2006. The Bio Spotter was developed as an OEM instrument for Alpha Innotech Co., a leader in the manufacture of scanning instruments. The BIS V FLex instruments are in use at the South Carolina Law Enforcement Department (SLED) and City of San Francisco (Forensics / Toxicology Laboratory). Customer validation is planned for Calloway Laboratory, Labcorp-RTP, NH DOH in Q2 – Q4, 2008. The stand-alone devices like heaters, peltier blocks, shakers that can be used as bench-top instruments or part of the automated set-up, have provided a constant revenue source for the company. | |
