The 2014 IVCA Awards Dinner, presented by Kirkland & Ellis LLP, will be held on Monday, December 8th at the Four Seasons Hotel, 120 E. Delaware Street at 5:00pm.  

IVCA is pleased to honor the following:

Darren M. Snyder, Prairie Capital, recipient of the 2014 IVCA Fellows Award.  This award is given in recognition of an individual for their outstanding contributions to the private equity profession and to the Illinois Venture Capital Association.  Darren is a founding member of IVCA and has served in many volunteer leadership roles over the last 12 years.   Darren has over fifteen years of private equity experience in addition to his six years of middle market lending and insurance experience. He currently serves as Partner at Prairie Capital, and is responsible for investment origination, due diligence, deal structuring, and negotiation.

Steven N. Miller, Origin Ventures, recipient of the 2014 Daley Award.  This award recognizes a single individual who has given direct and extraordinary support to the State of Illinois by participating in or being an advocate for the venture capital and private equity industry.   Steve has generously contributed to many local organizations including: president of the board of Victory Gardens Theater; board member of OneGoal, an innovative college persistence program working to make college graduation possible for all students. Steve is also a board member and committee chair of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, as well as the Better Government Association. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, and the University of Illinois Foundation.

 

2014 Portfolio Company of the Year recognizes management teams that deliver outstanding results to investors

GrubHub, venture-backed recipient of the 2014 IVCA Portfolio Company of the Year award
GrubHub connects local restaurants with hungry diners in more than 600 cities across the United States and is the leading online and mobile platform for restaurant pick-up and delivery orders (takeout). GrubHub processed more than 135,000 combined Daily Average “Grubs” in 2013 and had approximately $1.3 billion of combined “Gross Food Sales” on its platforms in 2013. They connect local restaurants with hungry diners in more than 600 cities across the United States and are focused on transforming the takeout experience.  GrubHub was founded in 2004, received its initial round of funding from Origin Ventures and went public in April 2014 at $26 with a market cap of $2.7 billion.

Fieldglass, private equity-backed recipient of the 2014 IVCA Portfolio Company of the Year award
Fieldglass is the largest cloud-based vendor management system (VMS) for procuring and managing contingent labor and services in both total spending and in global footprint.  Fieldglass was launched in 2000 and received its initial round of venture capital funding from Chicago-based Prism Opportunity Fund.  In total, Fieldglass received $38 million in VC funding before selling to Madison Dearborn Partners in 2010 for $220 million. In 2014 the company was sold to SAP.  The Chicago-based private-equity firm reported its return on the investment was fivefold, or about 55 percent on an annualized basis.
