The Series B Crunch is Real

In July 2014, Pitchbook visited the question of whether U.S. Venture-backed companies were experiencing a “Series B Crunch” meaning that Series B-worthy companies are going unfunded because of a diminishing number of financings. Pitchbook’s analysis indicated that nationally, no, there was no Series B Crunch.

IVCA wanted to see if that conclusion holds true for companies in our region by looking at data from Pitchbook regions “Great Lakes”1 and “Midwest”2.
We also were able to look at an additional year’s worth of data: 2008 –Q12015. Updated data indicates we are indeed be experiencing a Series B Crunch in our region.
