Twelve Students Selected as 2017 IVCA Scholars |
Twelve Students Selected as 2017 IVCA ScholarsApril 26, 2017 IVCA is pleased to announce the 2017 IVCA Scholars. These accomplished individuals were selected by member firms from a very competitive group of candidates. The IVCA Scholar program is designed to expose traditionally under-represented groups to the business of investing private dollars into private companies via venture capital & private equity investing. The IVCA Scholar program is open to “minorities” as defined by the US Census Bureau and women. The students include 3 MBA students, and 9 undergraduate or recent graduates. It is the hope of IVCA members that this will be the first step in creating a more diverse flow of future qualified candidates for their firms. Eleven IVCA member firms have agreed to host a student for the summer so that the students can learn on-the-job the basics of venture capital and private equity investing. In addition to working at a firm, the students will be exposed to IVCA service provider members that support VC & PE investors so that the IVCA Scholars have a strong understanding of the scope of careers our industry provides. The IVCA Scholars will work for 10 weeks at an IVCA member firm. We welcome the opportunity to partner our IVCA Scholars with IVCA members that have organized internship programs with planned educational or social activities. Please contact Maura O’Hara to discuss how we might partner or to learn more about this year’s group of IVCA Scholars.
