The new member participants in the Illinois Venture Capital Association keeps growing, giving the current membership the opportunity to expand networks, offer support and exchange new ideas for venture capital, private equity and support industry issues. The latest new member is H.I.G. Capital, a Private Equity fund that focuses on leverage buyouts, equity and other investments in small and mid-sized companies.

IVCA: What is a brief history and background of H.I.G. Capital?

H.I.G. Capital: Founded in 1993, H.I.G. is the largest and most active private investment firm focused on the middle market, with $24 billion of capital under management with broad investment mandate, that is focused on traditional LBO’s and special/complex situations. There has been over 300 investments since its inception.

The firm is a value-added strategic partner with a superior track record of investment returns for limited partners and management partners. We partner with management of our investments to enhance financial, strategic and operation decision making, with a vast network of executives and specialists across industries to support portfolio companies, as well as a in-house mergers and acquisitions team to evaluate and execute add-on acquisition opportunities.

IVCA: How vast is your global network and reach?

We are a global firm that is headquartered in Miami, with offices throughout the U.S. in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago. Our European offices are in London, Paris, Hamburg, Madrid and Milan, and our Latin American presence includes Bogota, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.

IVCA: Why did the firm decide to join the Illinois Venture Capital Association?
