IVCA Scholar Program Ready For Second Year With Four Firms

February 12, 2008

CHICAGO - “ The IVCA scholar program enters its second year with an exceptional group of applicants from the University of Illinois College of Business undergraduate program.

The IVCA scholar program is designed to expose exceptional minority students to the VC and private equity industries while undergraduates. Each student will receive a $5,000 award toward tuition and a paid, 10-week internship at an IVCA member firm.

Participating member firms accepting an intern this year include:

  • ARCH Venture Partners
  • Baird Private Equity
  • Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Company
  • Thoma Cressey Bravo

ARCH Venture Partners, Baird Private Equity and Thoma Cressey Bravo participated in the program in 2007. Beecken Petty O'Keefe is joining the program in 2008. We are very grateful to these firms for their willingness to mentor the students.

In addition to interning with a member firm, each student will participate in regular training sessions with Dan O'Connell at the Golder Center and weekly Toastmasters International meetings.

The IVCA will schedule introductions for these students at a variety of VC and private equity firms, fund-of-funds and at professional service firms to introduce them to the broad opportunities in our industry.

If any member would like to meet with the students and provide an overview of your firm's activities as part of the summer program, please contact Maura O'Hara at [email protected].
