Announcing IVCA’s 2021 Award Recipients!

Factor is our VENTURE CAPITAL Portfolio Company of the Year recipient.  The award will be presented by Jeff Cantalupo of  Listen Ventures to the CEO of Factor, Michael Apostal.
 
Option Care Health is the PRIVATE EQUITY Portfolio Company of the Year recipient. The award will be presented to the company’s President and CEO, John Rademacher by Madison Dearborn Partner’s Elizabeth Q. Betten.
 
THE IVCA FELLOWS AWARD will be presented to Rocco Martino, OceanM19 by Jim TenBroek, Growth Catalyst Partners.
 
THE RICHARD J. DALEY AWARD will be presented to Linda L. Darragh, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University by Ellen Carnahan, Machrie Enterprises
 
IVCA’s Awards Dinner will be held the evening of December 6th, 2021 at 5:30pm at The Four Seasons, 120 E Delaware St. Chicago. We have limited the number of attendees for this year's event and we ask that only vaccinated individuals attend.  Masking policy per City of Chicago guidance will be observed.

2021 IVCA Individual Awards
 
The IVCA Fellows Award recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to the private equity profession and to the Illinois Venture Capital Association.
Criteria for the award are:

  • Has recognizable accomplishments working with IVCA in its mission of advocating, educating and promoting for VC/PE in Illinois.
  • A person who demonstrates the highest ethical standards on both a personal and professional level.
  • Has participated in the venture/private equity industry as an investor, service provider or academic

Rocco Martino has been a member of IVCA since 2008 and has supported of our organization from Day 1 of his membership. Since 2014 Rocco has been a member of the Board and he served as our “Pandemic Chair", serving as Chairman from January 2020 through June 2021. 
 
Rocco’s calm and clear style is appreciated by all involved with IVCA.   Rocco’s perspective, counsel and support were greatly appreciated and resulted in IVCA’s ability to weather the pandemic effectively. 
 
From IVCA’s current Chair, Jennifer Steans: “Rocco has also been a very able leader of the IVCA’s PAC, where he currently serves as its Vice Chairman.   Rocco supports both of his alma maters, serving on Advisory Councils for both Notre Dame and Loyola University, as well as his local community, where he is currently the Chairman of the Edward/Elmhurst Healthcare System’s Board of Trustees.  In short, Rocco serves as a role model to us all regarding how to put our talents to work in all aspects of our lives.”

Recently retired as Larry Levy Executive Director of the Kellogg Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative will receive The Richard J. Daley Award which acknowledges a single individual who has given direct and extraordinary support to the State of Illinois by participating in or being an advocate for the venture capital and private equity industry:
  • Has directed significant effort toward improving our city, our state and the country.
  • A person who demonstrates the highest ethical standards on both a personal and professional level.
  • Has participated in the venture/private equity industry as an investor, service provider or academic
From former IVCA Chair Ellen Carnahan: “Linda Darragh's professional and volunteer experience has focused on enhancing entrepreneurship in Chicago for three decades. In 2018, she was awarded the 'Entrepreneurial Champion Award' by 1871.  She very recently retired as the Larry Levy Executive Director of the Kellogg Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative, one of four strategic initiatives at Kellogg. In this capacity, Darragh has updated and enhanced the curriculum, expanded the faculty and increased engagement opportunities for students and alumni. Darragh also teaches courses that focus on entrepreneurship in emerging markets.
 
Ms. Darragh is an active member of the Chicago entrepreneurial community. She has been a long-time board member of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center/1871. She is also a member of the Golden Apple Foundation and Injustice Watch."
